Director of Passive Defense and Crisis Management Center of Qom Municipality has announced that the hazardous materials maneuver was held in order to reduce the effects of disastrous incidents in the city.

The maneuver of hazardous materials is one of the programs of the Qom municipality which is being implemented in the field of crisis management and passive defense, stated Ali Akbar Rahimi on Monday.

Rahimi also noted that prior to holding the operation, we had several specialized meetings with experts in this area.

He went on to say that the maneuver will be reviewed by the evaluators to determine the weaknesses and strengths of the devices so that we do not witness any perilous incidents in the province.

Furthermore, Alireza Baba Ahmadi, Deputy Operations of Qom Municipality Fire and Safety Services affirmed that three fire engines fifteen firefighters with the equipment for dealing with the hazardous chemicals were sent to the operation.

The firefighters first removed the leaked materials from the tanks, then searched for the injured, and finally, decontaminated the environment, he added.

He emphasized that the fire department was the only organization that was allowed to enter the hot zone, and therefore our actions would be very sensitive and effective.
