Library of Iranian scholar Azartash Azarnoush donated to research institute

The family of the late nobel Iranian linguist and scholar of Arabic literature Azartash Azarnoush donated his library to the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia, a research institute in Iran.


According to Qom News the donated library features 4,648 books and publications as well as personal research notes of Azarnoush, based on a press release by the Public Relations Office of the center.

Born in 1937 in the religious city of Qom, Azartash Azarnoush studied Arabic literature in the Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies at the University of Tehran and pursued his education in France where he received two Ph.D. degrees, one in Arabic literature.

He was the director of the Arabic Department of the Center for the Great Islamic Encyclopedia, the Tehran-based institute active in researching and publishing general and topical encyclopedias about Iranian and Islamic culture.
