Qomnews , 23 May 2023 - 11:32

In the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan, five Iranian border guards have been killed in clashes with armed terrorists and anti-Islamic Revolution groups.

The incident occurred in the Maze-Sar area of the border region of Saravan, near Pakistan.

The Iranian border security forces engaged in a fierce confrontation with the terrorists, resulting in the fatalities. Initially, reports stated that six guards had died, but it was later announced that one guard, Reza Borji, was resuscitated in the hospital.
The attack was carried out by a terrorist group attempting to infiltrate the country's border, but they fled to the other side after the confrontation.

The deputy commander of the Iranian law enforcement forces and the head of border guards visited the area to investigate the incident. Saravan has been a frequent site of clashes between Iranian security forces and terrorist groups and drug traffickers.

In a separate incident last month, Colonel Alireza Shahraki, chief of the Iranian Police Criminal Investigation Department in Saravan, was killed in a terrorist attack. Unknown gunmen ambushed his car, fatally shooting him and seriously injuring his wife.

Also, speaking at the funeral procession of the border guards,  Iran’s deputy police chief has expressed the force’s determination to avenge the killing of five border guards in a terrorist attack in southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province neighboring Pakistan.
