Qomnews : Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has said that the Islamic Republic’s foreign policy attaches paramount importance to expanding relations with Latin American countries
The top Iranian diplomat made the comment on Thursday during a meeting with his Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Moncada Colindres in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.
The two ministers discussed various issues including political ones, with Amirabdollahian hailing the growing relations between the two countries, which he said is based on the Islamic Republic’s doctrine to develop ties with Latin American states.
He said that “the stances of Iran and Nicaragua on international issues are on the right path.”
FM: Promoting ties with LatAm states important for Iran
The ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on a mechanism for political cooperation and negotiations.
The Nicaraguan diplomat said that Tehran and Managua are taking “a good path” to develop their ties, and signing the latest MoU is one of the ways to strengthen mutual cooperation.
Iran’s foreign minister, heading a high-ranking political delegation, arrived in Nicaragua early on Thursday on the second leg of a tour that earlier took him to Mauritania in West Africa.
From Nicaragua, Amirabdollahian is set to travel to Venezuela for talks with officials there.
