Qomnews : The director general of the Parks and Green Space Organization of Qom Municipality has declared that Qom ranks third in the country after the cities of Isfahan and Shiraz in terms of green space.
The area of Qom urban green space has increased from 17 million and 800 thousand meters in 2015 to 26 million and 468 thousand meters in 2021, Payam Javadian said in the meeting of Qom Municipality’s Parks and Green Space Organization Council which was held on Thursday.
Javadian also touched upon the city’s green space per capita, saying that since the last six years, it has risen from 13.8 square meters to 20.42 square meters due to the measures that have been taken by the Parks and Green Space Organization in this regard.
Stressing the significance of developing urban green space, he also stated that annually, an average of 350,000 square meters is added to the per capita green space in Qom.
Moreover, he referred to per capita forest area in the city, adding over the last six years, it has increased by about 7 million square meters and is currently estimated at 20 million 495 thousand square meters.
Speaking at the meeting, the mayor of Qom, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaeiannejad also emphasized the need to make the citizens participate in the development of urban green space per capita.
