Qomnews : The mayor of Qom has offered his congratulations to Rouhollah Rostami for winning Iran’s first gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games on Saturday.
In a message released on Sunday, Dr. Seyyed Morteza Saghaiannejad appreciated Rouhollah Rostami, Iranian powerlifter from the city of Qom, saying his winning the first gold medal has made the Iranian people happy.
By winning this medal, which is the result of years of effort and practice, Rostami showed that there are no limits to success, Saghaiannejad added.
Rostami lifted 234kg in his third attempt in the men’s -80kg and claimed the first gold medal for Iran in the Tokyo Paralympics. However, this was the second medal for the Iranian team so far after another powerlifter Amir Jafari won a silver medal at -65kg category on Friday.
